For over two decades FMX has been a fixture in the CG industry. Originally a networking event for graduates of leading German film school Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, it quickly grew to become Europe’s premier computer graphics conference exploring the latest trends in visual effects, animation, games and transmedia work. This year the show expands to embrace virtual reality. There’s a stellar line-up of speakers which includes our very own Stuart Aitken.
Stuart will be presenting a 45-minute talk on Axis’ collaboration with 343 Industries and Microsoft Games for the Halo 5 Guardian cinematic sequences. Stuart will delve into various creative and technical challenges thrown up by the project, the creative collaboration developed between the studios and the epic introduction sequence which was additionally used as a pre-release trailer for the game.
However, FMX isn’t just about the conference sessions. Outside the lecture halls visitors can tour the expo floor, attend tech sessions and visit the recruitment hub. The show could be the ticket to your next job in the industry: Axis will be in attendance amongst other leading facilities including ILM, Walt Disney Animation Studios, MPC to name a few. So be sure to pack your showreel.
With so many amazing sessions on offer the main problem for visitors to FMX is simply deciding what to see.
Stuart’s talk will take place on the 29th April, 3:30pm. Not attending the event? Watch the live stream below.
